Although somebody will probably label it an ambitious experiment obviously focused on the pursuit of science, BeautifulAgony.com is really not much more than a half-assed attempt at winning an originality tiara while attempting to somehow be erotically arousing. Personally, I think the idea would have worked better as the ironic title of a bondage photography collection.
Unless you subscribe to some far-fetched philosophy that we’re all truly naked on some spiritual level, baring and wearing our souls on the outside rather than exposing a big ole’ pair of titties, some low-hung swinging balls, and a bush hairy enough to scrub baked-on casserole dishes clean, I don’t know if too many of my porn-site constituents are going to fall for this pseudo-intellectual marketing ploy and buy into this un-sexy swindle.
Allegedly produced in private, and contributed by public contributors, the site literally features short streaming/downloadable video clips showing nothing more than the contorted faces of guys and girls as they masturbate and climax, and taped “confessions” of some of the participants sharing their feelings and thoughts on making themselves cum. I’ve actually seen this trick performed on one of those lackluster late-night HBO “specials,” and didn’t really find anything special in it that I couldn’t see by looking in a mirror while jerking myself off.
Most people, when they orgasm, aren’t overwhelmingly attractive. There are no clues here as to whether this site is trying to be intentionally funny, but considering the amount of contributors from around the world willing to show their face at the height of an uncontrollable spasm, it can strike you as pretty laughable, and is a major contributing factor to it receiving more than two stars, let alone one. It is updated pretty frequently though, and they have t-shirts for sale—-so, somebody is getting off on signing on to it.
Displaying the French phrase “Facettes de la petite Mort,” which translates as: “Faces of the little death,” provided a clever smokescreen during my first glance of the site. The idea of “The Little Death” is one that can be found in literature as not only a creative term for an orgasm, but an almost spiritual occurrence taking place at the height of an orgasm, and cases of people actually blacking out after intense ones. I think the term has a mysterious air to it to that gives the orgasm a romantic quality, and propels it to the level of a magical experience that should be savored and appreciated. Even with that said, I still don’t appreciate BeautifulAgony.com any more than I did six paragraphs ago.
