Energie Kegel Exerciser
Reviewed by SexHerald Staff

Before even opening the box that contains the Energie Kegel Exerciser, I was already impressed. From the royal blue packaging to the mint green Energie itself, this exerciser radiates sensuality. One of many beautiful products from Natural Contours, the Energie has a simple design, with a great look and feel.

The Energie is made of a high quality plastic, so cleaning is easy with just some soap and water. At almost one pound, it has a nice heft—the perfect “barbell” for below. The Energie is approximately 6.5 inches long, gently curved, and about 1 inch at its widest point. For those of you who feel that girth counts, don’t be fooled—it is the perfect circumference for you to contract your vaginal muscles around while doing kegel exercises.

Kegels are exercises you can do to have more strength and control over the pubococcygeus muscles (PC). For those of you that are not sure where your PC muscles are, they stretch from your pubic bone in the front to your tailbone in the back. Picture a figure-eight shaped band that loops around the vagina (or penis) in the front and the anus in the back, and you’ll have the right idea. A popular way of describing how to isolate and engage these muscles is to try to stop and start your flow of urine the next time you are in the bathroom.

Kegels were named after Dr. Arnold Kegel who “discovered” and popularized them as a way to help some of his patients avoid surgery for incontinence. Kegels are also suggested for women to tone their PC muscles after childbirth. If you don’t have those particular issues, you might be asking yourself, “Why should I exercise my vagina when I can’t even motivate myself to go to the gym?” Well, there are a few benefits, but the most intriguing for the everyday woman (or man) are the sexual benefits. Doing Kegel exercises is a great way to help enhance your sexual pleasure, and maybe even your partner’s pleasure. For example, if you are a woman in a heterosexual relationship, wouldn’t your man appreciate the sensation of you firmly gripping his shaft with your PC muscles? For men, better control of the PC muscles can lead to better control over ejaculation. And for anyone, taking the time to regularly clench and unclench these muscles has the potential to enhance orgasms.

You can certainly do Kegels without any props or devices, but adding “weight resistance” to the equation with the Energie certainly makes it more interesting. This exerciser is meant to be enjoyed lying down. Lie back and relax. Slide the Energie just a bit inside your vagina, maybe using some lube if just thinking about getting this hot little number inside of you doesn’t already have you wet. Squeeze and relax your muscles around it. Take your time. Insert it inch by inch. Keep squeezing and relaxing, making sure to take deep breaths. Go slowly, until, as it says in the directions, “full penetration is achieved.” Get the picture? This is not like the gym, people. This is so much better, and the emphasis on taking it slow will really get you worked up.

Kegel exercises with the Energie do not feel like a lot of work—but they do feel a lot like pleasure!! The curve is particularly nice for pressing against the G-spot area. The weight of the Energie also gives it an interesting feeling. You might find yourself skipping through some of your exercises and heading straight towards using this as a penetrative device. Although it is very solid and doesn’t have the same “give” as many dildos or vibrators, it is also fairly thin, so it is not uncomfortable.

The Energie will certainly energize you. An attractive toy, in an attractive box, the Energie is great for personal use, but would also make a cool gift. It makes you remember to do these simple and practical exercises, and doubles as a lovely sex toy. And, perhaps for the first time, you’ll find yourself looking forward to a daily workout.
