In an effort to target the massive sex worker industry in New Delhi and throughout India, Hindustan Latex has launched a new flavored condom. The condom will be paan flavored with the intention of mimicking the flavor of betel nut and tobacco that is chewed by millions of the South Asian population.

The condom is intended to appeal to prostitutes in order to curb the spread of AIDS throughout the population. Those in the sex worker industry tend to be most vulnerable to the disease and thus propagate the spreading of infections.

 Hindustan Latex had sex workers test a number of flavored condom prototypes which included banana, chocolate and strawberry flavors in addition to the betel nut condoms. The betel nut condoms proved to be the most popular.

In their initial release, the condoms will only be made available to sex workers but in coming months they will make their way into the public market.
