Ingredients:
4 parts Zygo energy vodka
1 part cranberry juice
Splash of Daily’s Sour Mix
Fresh lime garnish
Directions: Mix Zygo, Sours and cranberry in a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled martini glass and squeeze in fresh lime.
Here’s a wonderful variation on the Cosmopolitan using Zygo energy vodka. In a word, it’s delicious. A splash of sour cuts the already palatable vodka while bringing out some of the citrus flavors. The cranberry adds a bit of color and balance, and the lime ties it all together.
It’s a perfect end of the week/start of the weekend drink. The additives of Taurine and Guarana and all the other great things you find in Red Bull impart an elevated buzz to help get things going. The 70-proof liquor disappears under the balanced blend of fruit flavors that are refreshing but not overly sweet.
The downside is that not many bars carry Zygo as of now. It isn’t terribly hard to find as it’s distributed in nearly 40 states. I wouldn’t be surprised if it catches on as the next huge trend. There is a gimmick factor to this vodka, but this is a product that stands up for itself. The blessing/curse of this recipe is that a bottle will disappear with unbelievable ease.
The balance in flavor and lacking presence of alcohol does make this drink a bit dangerous. It wouldn’t be hard to lose track of yourself and put away four or five of these in quick succession. But with that warning out of the way, let this drink take you to your weekend.
