They’re blonde. They’re perky. They dress alike. Their level of conversation rarely rises above their hair and their tan lines. But gosh darnit, they are just so cute, and they make girl-on-girl sex seem like a wholesome afternoon game of croquet. Is it wrong to think of a porn site as adorable? For whatever reason, the giggly, dumb blonde stereotype that usually turns me right off gets me laughing (and moaning) right along with Nicole and Britney. (Yes, Britney.) The premise? “We live together,” says Nicole, shyly, to one of their guests, “but um, we’re not really into guys. We’re really more into…each other. We like girls!” And each episode, the two girls go out with their trusty cameraman, and find a fine young filly to bring home and initiate into the Sapphic mysteries. Now clearly, the idea that this is all spontaneous is preposterous: could every girl they meet really be shaved bare? But they just pull it off so well, that it’s hard to tell exactly when they decide to explain to the girl about the model release: is it on the way to the apartment? Is it before they ever meet? Whenever it is, it doesn’t matter – the interactions are so genuine and sweet that they carry the viewer right along. Each of these interactions can be viewed as still images in the gallery, or on streaming video. Part of the charm of the movies over the galleries is the sitcom-style openings: for the first little while, the girls are just hanging out with their camera guy, lazing at the beach, or rollerblading around the neighborhood, before they “run into” their hookup. In one episode, the absolutely stunning “Jenny” decides, after her boyfriend ditches her at the amusement park, to hang out with them – and the first thing they do is to go on the rollercoaster together. There is some sense of relationship-building here; by the time we get them back to the apartment, there is camaraderie, and we care a bit what happens to them. And what lovely happenings they are. All first-timers, the women quickly get seduced by these bubbly beauties into kissing them, then more…until, invariably, there are tongues in the Barbie Dreamhouse and then all the toys are coming out of the box. (Nicole: “It’s pink, and it vibrates? It’s ours!”) Though the galleries are well-nigh pointless with their poor navigation system, and the movie downloads are unwieldy at best, there is a lot of fun to be had here. This is a place of girltalk, and body-affirmations, and a sort of slumber-party-style, innocent sexiness. Yes, it’s intended to make girlsex seem totally unthreatening to men. Yes, it plays into every male fantasy about hot bi babes. But they’re so cute. Now if only there weren’t a guy filming the whole thing, or at least if he would keep his mouth shut and let the girls work. I can only imagine how much fun this powderpuff pleasuredome would be in the hands of a female director.
