I'm always wary of pornos featuring old stars because it often ends up as a case of the reputation preceeding the subject. You get someone who was a big name in their heyday making a crappier-than-average appearance in a new production and just because they're known, people are more inclined to let it slide. Something Wicked features porn veteran Herschel Savage, and this was one of those cases where I was thrown into caution mode for half-assed performance.
I was surprised by this video because by this video because it put forth an interesting (well,semi-interesting) storyline and and the acting wasn't half bad. Even Mr. Savage, whom I expected to lollygag actually put through a respectable performance (although his dying in the first ten minutes probably didn't provide the opportunity to get lax). I usually steer clear of of serious plot pornography because more often than not it takes itself too seriously. When you wind up with fuckfilms that equate themselves with Shakespeare and can't grasp the ridiculousness of such a concept, then it might be time to head for the fallout shelter because the end is truly near. This video touches the border once or twice but never really crosses the line into prestigious delusion and thus remains enjoyable.
By now you've noticed that we didn't hate this video, so why did it receive such an average rating? For starters, the ending sucked, but to judge on such a petty detail is unfair. The primary reason is that the sex in this feature was far overdone and poorly staged. It's a sad thing when the least enjoyable aspect of a porno is the sex, but these scenes were so hammed up it's almost insulting, hence it's brought down by the very thing that should bring it up. The key phrase here is "Let Down. SomethingWicked"
