I was brought up in the days of the Dukes of Hazzard and Smokey and the Bandit, so as far as I’m concerned, there’s nothing sexier than Daisy Duke and big-block muscle cars. Director Otto Bauer apparently agrees with me. His movie Smokin’ Tailpipes seems like a zero-budget homage to those very same adolescent obsessions.
Tailpipes is the saga of Billy Joe, a redneck bad boy who’s crossed the local sheriff one too many times. From the opening credits (where Billy Joe jumps naked from a window to escape a jealous husband) to the final scenes (when he does the exact same thing), it seems trouble’s always nipping at Billy Joe’s heels.
And trouble isn’t the only thing… Playing Bonnie to his Clyde, his accomplice, Bobbie Sue, doesn’t just nip; she sucks, licks, tongues and teases, too, during an impromptu roadside blowjob (making her exactly the sort of accomplice I’d like to have on a hell-for-leather highway rampage)!
In a stylish stolen drop-top (a Jaguar, I think), Billy Joe and Bobby Sue leave a path of destruction in their wake as they stick up convenience stores on the road to nowhere (or it could be the road to Los Angeles. I’m not sure). Needless to say, this just infuriates the local sheriff even further, leading him to plot a ‘sting’ operation that’s so contrived and convoluted, I think it was lifted straight from the script of the Dukes of Hazzard!
But like in most ‘porn with plot,’ we’re willing to forgive some of the more nonsensical narrative as long as the overall output is good, and with Smokin’ Tailpipes it’s literally smokin’.
I really loved the sex scenes in this feature. Bauer mixes in a few unexpected tricks, like POV camera angles during some of the blowjob scenes and a stand-alone roadside blowjob that bucks the trend of traditional porn procedure.
My standout favorite is the first scene. After our hero leaps from the window, the ‘jealous husband’ gets down and dirty with his sister-in-law, the deliciously freckled Audrey Hollander. Not only is this scrappy redhead the very epitome of southern-fried chic, she also takes her in-law’s load deep in her thirsty pussy, forswearing the more traditional ‘facial.’ I love creampies and since adorable Audrey really pushed my button, that made this scene particularly memorable.
That’s not to say there aren’t other memorable moments. Although Tailpipes is filmed on a miniscule budget, it still manages to deliver some high-speed action and at least one authentic muscle car: a 442 Oldsmobile in gleaming terracotta.
My only real criticism is the pacing. Between sex scenes, the narrative tends to drag a bit and Otto Bauer does a poor job keeping the frenetic pacing and sense of urgency that’s vital in any high-octane highway comedy. The robbery scenes are especially awkward. When Billy Joe leaps out of his convertible to stick up the convenience store, he makes a joke about ‘using the ATM.’ However, he’s in there such a long time (with us watching Bobby Sue twiddling her thumbs in the passenger seat) that I started to wonder if he was really using the ATM and the whole robbery-schpeil had just been a joke!
Nevertheless, the combination of cars and a creampie make this one of the most enjoyable adult features I’ve watched in a while. I absolutely recommend it. Smokin'Tailpipes
