In a way, adult films can be viewed as the art of turning sexual fantasy into reality. Director Philip Mond took the concept of sexual fantasy as erotic art and turned it into a visually pleasing, sexually exciting adult film titled Sinema. Though the background story is not laid out within the picture, the images speak well enough for themselves; an artist, who’s medium is her computer, is putting together a new set of erotic pictures. When the artist creates a picture, the fantasy comes to life. What’s so exciting about Sinema is that Mr. Mond created several interesting fantasy backgrounds then captured them with his fine eye for directing.
The cover shot shows Gina Mond’s beautiful natural blue eyes on top of what appears to be a salvage yard. The picture is a shot of the final scene, which takes place not in a salvage yard, but a rundown street in what could be a post-apocalyptic future. Phil Mond was right on the money when he chose to end Sinema with this scene. Gina takes on three diesel men on top of a pimped-out car while hot orange fires blaze around the foursome. I honestly don’t know which excited me more in this shot; the sex or the setting. The sex is not overly aggressive but the scenery in some sense is, which is where much of the excitement comes from. On top of the setting and the performers, the scene is also shot in black and white with only a few shots of color (most notably Gina’s pussy lips—smoking hot effect). Gina also does a DP here which will satisfy many fans.
Another shot which is sure to have people talking is scene three, where Gina goes solo and is bald. Here, fantasy truly comes to life as a bald Gina wears a leather corset and has a few large snakes wrapped around her. Adding art to fantasy, Gina is in a room of what could be a castle complete with stained glass windows which create some really fun lighting visuals for the scene. P. Mond then takes the fantasy up another notch by having Gina sit on metal chains hanging from the ceiling which perfectly spread her legs for some personal pleasure. Gina starts on the table with her fingers and ends up in the chains with a mighty vibrator; the perfect scene for the middle of the film.
Of course with all art comes some form of criticism and Sinema is no different. Philip Mond has a seriously talented eye for directing and filmmaking. He sets up some amazing scenarios and his camera is able to capture the erotic feel of the moment. However, Phil also tends to get a little too creative with the camera, resulting in tons of quick, edited shots which work great for the vision but can be harmful (and dizzying) to the viewer’s eyes. My one other concern deals with the audio track in the second scene. Gina’s moaning sounds fake, like stock audio from another porno. Not only does this take away from the performers, it also brings down the mood of the picture.
All in all, Sinema is a very exciting erotic experience. Philip and Gina Mond put in amazing work behind and in front of the camera (respectively) creating an adult film which turns up the heat not only from the sex but from the amazing visual details as well.
