I’ve always thought that mainstream cinema would be greatly improved if more hardcore sex was incorporated. Whether I’m right or wrong is a matter of opinion, but features like this one prove that the combination of hardcore sex and storyline (or “plot and penetration” if you want to get corny about it) don’t necessarily work together theatrically. Well, not in porn, at least.

Silver Screen Confidential stars Jenna Jameson as Celeste who’s out to get exclusive interviews for her PR firm. Viewing this as a porno movie, I actually found myself unable to focus on the story because I was too busy waiting for the next sex scene. Perhaps in retrospect most porno movies weren’t meant to have storylines. Well, in the case of this video the storyline did little for the movie, other than provide filler. It was corny and uninteresting despite various attempts at comedy through retro 50’s dialog. That's one of the problems right there: you don’t know what the hell they’re talking about half the time. The old school jargon is just pointless drivel if you don’t know what’s being said. And even though I understood what was going on, that doesn’t mean it was interesting.

The story, though, is a drawn-out prelude to some pretty decent sex, however. In fact, a couple of sex scenes are tacked on and pointless, yet they provide some of the most arousing action in the video. The performances were corny, the story was uninteresting - was there anything in this video that was worth seeing? Well, if you’re as much of a movie geek as I am, then you notice such things as production value and relevant scoring - and if I do say so myself this video is very well produced with excellent fifties-esque music. Unfortunately, as a porno movie this was a big disappointment.
