This is one weird movie. I’ve never seen an adult film quite like this one and its strangeness has nothing to do with the sex—the sex is all well and good and hot and nasty—it has to do with the theme and the plot of this film. “She’s No Ordinary Girl” is an Adam and Eve production featuring Mia Smiles as the focal point and driving force behind it. Basically it’s the life story of Mia Smiles as told by Mia Smiles with certain parts of the story punctuated by sex scenes, some with her and some without. The description on the box states “Asian darling Mia Smiles goes from behind-the-scenes ‘lube girl’ to award-winning triple-X filmmaker and invites you along for the ride! Her part-time job in the blue movie biz opens the floodgates of her fantasies.”
Mia Smiles is kind of a weird choice for a movie like this one. As far as I know she’s been in a lot of movies but has never really established herself as one of the big names in the business. So a movie based on her life and told autobiographically by her seems a bit premature at best. She does seem like a nice lady, and her story is kind of interesting if a bit contrived. The real sore point with this movie is that while it looks like a greatest hits setup from the start, it is clear that Mia is still only going to be in a few scenes instead of all of them. Which really is a shame, because if she’s anything Mia is an extremely convincing sexual performer. She’s electric when she’s having intercourse, and she knows how to make that lithe body of hers work us all into a tizzy.
Where this movie goes wrong is by having Mia give a first-person confession type narration of the entire movie before each sex scene. Even though she’s an amazing sexual performer, she’s not a very good story teller and there are times when it’s clear she has no idea what to say. The pauses can be quite painful. I’m not even sure if there was a script for this movie or if they just had Mia sit down in a chair, roll camera, and say Go!
But really all that matters is the sex, if you’re not interested in Mia’s life story I encourage you to fast-forward to the good parts and get on with your evening. Besides Mia’s, the other performances are all well executed and the heat is evident. Adam and Eve does a good job of keeping the pace quick and the sex coming full steam. Fans of Mia’s will find this movie a must, and newcomers to this steamy starlet are encouraged to go ahead and try her out, if only to see some furious sex performed at a fever pitch.
