I wasn’t sure what to make of this film. The cover looked enticing enough but when I popped this in, it just seemed a bit preoccupied with reminding everyone this feature was being filmed in Budapest.
The behind the scenes feature does go in a little detail explaining that this is a vampire film, yet the opening sequences do little to give you a hint it’s a vampire thriller. You have to watch, or at least fast-forward to the end of sex scene one to see Tawny’s partner suddenly grow fangs and bite Tawny’s neck when you realize it is what it’s supposed to be.
The premise of the film actually sounds like a good idea and you get the feeling just by looking at the DVD cover that it will be good, but each scene gets interrupted by more home movies of Budapest and other behind the scenes shots.
There are, according to the DVD description, six interweaving stories, but it’s really hard to follow what’s going. I know it’s porno but if you’re going to spend money and manpower to film a “major motion picture” as it says on the DVD cover, shouldn’t a little effort be put in it?
At the end of sex scene three, before the actor has cummed, some more behind the scenes footage is thrown in, in black and white if you can believe it, when the climax of the film comes to light. Tawny is told that her grandmother was a vampire who lost her powers when she married a non-vampire. She apparently is the last person who’s able to bring back the vampire race.
I’m sorry but I really couldn’t watch the rest of the feature without doing some major fast forwarding. Tawny and the rest of the girls are incredible looking, I’ll give the film that, but the sex, while nicely shot and well choreographed, just didn’t do it for me. I guess because I was bored with the film -- it's a hard one to sit through.
There are several anal scenes, and there’s definite potential for this film. If Paul Thomas decides to do some re-shoots and edits it correctly, it could actually be a decent vampire thriller. I know he’s supposed to be the man among adult directors, but this DVD just isn’t good at all. Maybe I just don’t know his style or get his movies (it is my first Paul Thomas film), but I’ve seen so much better from newer directors.
I think the less they tried to be pretentious, the more pretentious the film was. Do yourself a favor, if the urge strikes you and your partner to watch a good porn: pick up any Paul Thomas film except this one. Leave this one on collecting dust on the store shelf. Sextet
