I’m in love, and feeling forgiving. The object of my love is porn star par excellence Adam Kubik, who graces the cover of his latest release, Scouting for Wood. It’s because of him – his handsome face and dazzling smile, his taut little ass and unfeigned frenzy – that I’m willing to forgive the handful of flaws that mar this movie and proclaim it a masterpiece. This is the kind of feature that stars a parade of lads so handsome and well-proportioned that they’re pretty well indistinguishable. Throw in some pretty long and lusty sequences, un-translated and unintelligible dialogue, and the results are positively dizzying.
The tone is set early on: we see a troupe of Czech scouts at various tasks -- pitching a tent, going for a run, hiking through the woods. Then we visit each pair in turn and spend a bit of time with them. The first scene focuses on a cute shirtless pair (one of whom has braces!) who are wrestling. That leads to some kissing – and some spectacular nipple licking – and eventually the clothes come off (except for their kerchiefs). They’ve got a slim, boyish admirer lurking in the woods, too, and the duo becomes a threesome. Be prepared for lots of slurping and sucking and the kind of faraway lust in the eyes that’s well worth the price of admission.
The second scene keeps things simple with a couple of young lads fucking – nay, making love – in the warm sunshine. The two are well on their way to multiple merit badges. This scene is quickly followed by a more strapping, manly duo who are charmingly napping au naturel in the afternoon sun. They tussle a bit, swapping oral attentions, but then mysteriously, they’re dressed and strolling through the woods amiably where their paths cross with another fellow. The three share the film’s most powerful fuck on some abandoned railroad tracks, delivering very healthy come shots.
The fourth scene was my personal favorite because of the myriad charms of Adam Kubik. I might have liked to see him bottom, but he’s an enthusiastic top (even, playfully, biting his partner’s ass). The action in this scene starts out on a rowboat and ends up back on the shore and it’s as long and deliberate as the rest of the vignettes that make up this movie. That’s one of the strengths of the flick as a whole: there’s a generous amount of time devoted to kissing and foreplay and the fucking lasts just long enough: when the boys come – and Kubik in particular doesn’t disappoint – even the audience feels relieved.
There’s another scene afterward, a solo scene that ends up as a duo. It felt to me like gilding the lily, like a massive dessert after a too-big dinner. But isn’t that just the kind of thing that young lads with lots of stamina would do: fuck the day away, and then fuck some more? Apparently it is. ScoutingforWood
