They don’t let me choose every single movie I review, but you know how once in every blue moon you’re actually glad that someone actually forced you to do something?

I expected this to be the low-grade, generic and mindless smut the title suggests. Nay, nay. The way the girls and the sex were presented had an unpredictable element (unbelievably rare in porn), and the mood the movie creates kept changing – I loved how everything kept me guessing. It might even make me want to see the rest of this series.

Here’s how it works: in each scene, a female “correspondent” picks up a mike and brings us on campus to introduce us to the Real College Student of the hour. They have an interview where we find out a little about the girl, the correspondent gives her one last chance to back out (in “is this your final answer?” style – none ever seem to say no), and then they head towards a hotel where some horny men are waiting. The correspondent drops her microphone for a handheld camera, and we watch her film the sex that follows, getting a little involved in what she’s filming along the way.

That’s the formula. How does it play out? Well:
The biggest standout is the first scene with Tania (General Education, blonde). Your classic – and very pretty, southern sounding – tall blonde, she takes on a late-twenties looking guy and an older guy with a biker look. So it turns out she’s done five sex scenes before; if that’s what it takes to turn in the performance she does, I couldn’t care if she’d done five hundred. I don’t care if it’s real or fake either, her portrayal of multiple orgasmic ecstasy is rare even among the professionals and stars. This girl makes it look like the old balding guy is taking her up to heaven with all the heat of hell. Precious expressions, screams and spasms. Porn producers everywhere: I’m giving you this tip for free, you want to sign this Tania talent up. NOW.

The next two scenes are less exciting – Katerina (Sociology, curly black hair) and her friend Crystal pair up on one guy in a scene with only one fuck position per girl, the latter involving Crystal taking it up the ass. Crystal is by far the prettier of these two girls – Kat’s tall, skinny body and curly black hair doesn’t quite do it for me; I wish there were more focus on Crystal.

Next is Geanie (Child Development, raven-haired) and her girlfriend Betty doing a lesbian scene. It’s at this point I start suspecting that the producers are planting these second girls, because once again, Betty is the better looking of the duo. I’m not that much into girl-girl scenes, but I’ve got to say, the bit where one of them is quivering is a nice touch. There’s some dildo action – separate and then together; nothing spectacular. It’s funny how pornographers haven’t the faintest idea how to end a scene well without a cumshot to shoot.

Next there’s Jesse (Criminal Justice, brunette). This situation is a little different. We meet her in Laguna Beach instead of on campus, and the sex takes place in a house rather than a hotel. Jesse is on holiday – which is convenient, because she’s apparently picked up a guy there who is then her partner for the scene. Her performance is all right, but God, she’s nice to look at (she’s the girl on the far left of the cover, with glasses). I’m guessing an ethnic mix of East Asian and white is what’s going on here. If her screen-sex prowess were a little improved, I’d say watch out Asia Carrera.

The final scene features Amber (Pharmacy, blonde) with two men, one of whom is black (but doesn’t get a chance to penetrate her). In the beginning she looks a little awkward or distracted; kind of like she’s trying to work out chemistry problems in her head – which is a funny look to have when you have a dick in your mouth. She seems to relax into things eventually though (around the time that dick starts going in elsewhere), and by the end is red in the face, as well as around other body parts.

The interviews set an interesting mood; the correspondents are all friendly and comfortable in front of the camera, making the viewer and the performers feel at ease. You get a sense of nice, normal people (which is refreshing, even though they are, after all, about to fuck total strangers) and the mood is comfortable. Even when a correspondent is milling around the fucking couples or groups, it all feels sweet, sexy and intimate – like the whole thing was almost natural.

Now, that’s not to say that it all looks completely unscripted. I got suspicious when the girls seemed a little too ready with their answers, and when a bunch of those answers sounded remarkably similar from girl to girl. Also on the downside, after we get to know a little bit about these, they go off to a hotel room where there’s almost no conversation before the sex. So we get to meet the girls, but the men who screw them don’t, as far as we see. It seems a little weird and abrupt; I mean, I’m all for random sex, but the way this is set up detracts from the reality and breaks up the rhythm.

On the whole though, the way the viewers get to know the girls (a feature you can skip if you want, of course), and the stimulating dynamic created by the interactions between performers, correspondents and us will make you both feel more into what’s going on onscreen and keep you intrigued as to what’s going on off-screen.
