Like most men, I’ve waited years for some enterprising porn-producer to combine my love of red-hot, explicit sex with my nostalgia for cheesy, mid-nineties Nintendo games.
Fortunately, that long wait is over with Race 2 Race.
Billed as a totally interactive DVD experience, Race 2 Race pretends to be a hardcore version of Street Fighter 2.
You load the DVD up and the menu system plays out like a video game, even down to ‘loading’ screens between segments.
Instead of a chapter listing, you get the option of picking from more than a dozen combat characters. Your ‘player character’ then sets out to prove to their enemies that they’re ‘the world’s best fuck’ in two, three or four player ‘death matches.’
You have more than a dozen characters to choose from, each with a cheesy racially inspired character, like the skimpily dressed ‘Native American’ or the punk-inspired ‘English Soccer Hooligan.’
The ‘death matches’ are hardcore porn vignettes, featuring a whole host of different character combinations: One on one, girl versus girl, threesomes and foursomes, each featuring the characters ‘battling it out’ in a variety of sexual positions. These aren’t interactive, but they’re well filmed, very sexy and all the stars look great.
But, after watching the first few ‘battles,’ you realize there’s not as much crammed onto the DVD as you first imagined.
If you pick the sexy Vietnamese kimono girl, for example, you’ll go up against the English Soccer Hooligan and a burly African character in a sexy spit-roast. Following that encounter, you’re brought right back to the menu screen to pick another character. If you pick the Hooligan or African, it will just play the same scene all over again, revealing that there are actually less than ten scenes in all.
But that’s a minor criticism, especially since the ingenious concept of this DVD maintains the perception that you’re getting a lot of banging for your buck. The idea of picking the stars you want to see in action is also pretty novel. Perhaps, in a future release, you’ll actually be able to pick their ‘opponents’ as well.
Race 2 Race is a really fun feature and the stars are good looking, perform beautifully and look great in their outrageous costumes. There’s a second DVD included, which has a blooper real, outtakes and even ‘character bios’ for all the videogame-style protagonists.
I loved this DVD. I loved the idea, I was impressed with the execution and I was even pleased with the oversized box, which told you in advance that this Wicked production was going to be something special. If you’re like me – a recovering Street Fighter 2 junkie – this release might just trip you into a relapse. Race2Race
