Renegade auteur Joanna Angel has built a reputation for filming pieces where art imitates life imitating art. This most recent release is no different, and in fact, a pinnacle of her porn producing perfection. Best of all, she has, for those of us old school people, turned the camera on our aging faces in the mirror as she recreates party land in New York City, poignantly paralleling the period of promiscuousness, perversion, and pretension as only a steadily manipulated HD camera can.

The box cover dictates that an erstwhile Chapel, desperate to achieve the same star – like status that follows the seductive Joanna wherever it is that she finds herself, worms her way into the scene queen’s heart only to take over the once coveted position that Joanna herself defended with the veracity of a despotic dictator. The treachery is perpetrated in a mid-movie foursome scene inside the old Limelight (or Tunnel, or Avalon, or what-ever-hell-they-call-it-now) that sees Chapel tearing Joanna off of on again, off again scene boyfriend James Deen so she can swallow his party favor while still being taken from behind. Joanna’s composure completely deteriorates when she sees Chapel’s eyes glowing red and realizes that the girl she brought into the scene out of compassion has become an uncontrollable ‘Porny Monster’.

This scene in particular is its own magic: as Joanna’s mental state becomes entirely unhinged, she and on camera boyfriend James Deen run up several flights of stairs to try to escape the horror they’ve just witnessed, and in order to calm her down, Deen resorts to the only thing ‘he knows will make her feel better’ – anal sex. Meanwhile, back in the VIP room, Chapel is taking on all comers, and we get to witness her first DP scene. Now, you will forgive my moment of quiet reflection, perhaps I am simply reaching an age where I am long in the tooth, but, Gia Paloma, Eva Angelina, Trina Michaels, Tyla Wynn – DP experts. This scene, ladies and gentlemen, in my expert opinion, is not only Chapel’s first ON SCREEN DP, but her first DP period. The result is a rather interesting series of false starts and stutters as the freshly minted starlet attempts to maintain control while all her senses are being assaulted at the same time.

The story, as do all of their ilk, must lead to a well known and logical conclusion. The once virginal and blatantly naïve Chapel has now ridden the party roller coaster of drugs, sex, and one too many wild nights out to the bottom of the barrel, and is now as far from fabulous as one faux eyelash wearing party princess can get. Joanna awakes one morning to find her alone on the couch in a disturbingly disheveled state amidst the wreckage of one unrepentant ravaging – sofa cushions, clothes, and coffee table askew in the small–ish apartment.

There is no end of the trademark Joanna flair here: full screen close up shots of the pornstress as she explains for the viewing public the finer points of the fabulous lifestyle, scathing social commentary and Tommy Pistol’s entirely unmatchable comedic genius. At a previous point in history, given that the majority of the performers in Angel’s films seem to be very much the same members (haha), they might have been called a ‘theater troupe’. As such, their brand of comedy and politicism attracts a certain style of viewer, and their aesthetic is very much an all or nothing attitude. You’ve likely seen, especially if you’ve been following my page, several of her releases thus far and are already excited about this production. If so, you know what your next move must be.
