Watching No Cover, one can’t help but wonder, “Can there be too much of a good thing? Though it runs over two and a half hours, Chi Chi LaRue’s latest is a plotless flick set in a bar that features only four scenes, three of which run on far longer than seems necessary. The scenes aren’t epic by any means. They’re pretty standard suck and fuck sessions with a lot of rimming thrown in. For the most part, the only really impressive thing about them is the endurance of the cast.
The exception is the bathroom sex scene between Benjamin Bradley and Trey Casteel. From the moment Benjamin enters and finds Trey jacking off on the toilet, the tension between them sizzles. As they stare each other down and play with themselves, one senses that they can’t wait to get their hands and mouths on each other, and the wait for someone to make the first move crackles with erotic suspense. It’s Trey who comes through first, moving suddenly to take Benjamin’s cock into his mouth. The two men swap blow jobs back and forth, equally voracious whether giving or receiving.
After more oral play, Trey tops Benjamin before they flip-flop on the floor, and Trey explodes while being plowed by his younger partner. The attraction between these two men is overwhelming and a welcome relief after the long slog through the first scene.
Despite a promising opening in which Jan Fischer and the stunning, scruffy Luca DiCorso begin to go down on an unconscious Jeremy Hall, the opening threesome almost begs for the occasional fast forward. Too often, one of the guys is standing by watching the action, and when they each takes turns licking the ass of both of their partners, you can almost see the checklist in Chi Chi’s hand making sure that everyone has their turn with every hole. Even when Luca is fucking Jan, and Jeremy comes to join them, Luca pulls back to get fucked and simply uses poor Jan as a resting post. These are attractive men having attractive sex, but it all seems so deliberately choreographed, and the sex talk (particularly Jeremy’s) is painfully awkward and silly.
Jan also has a scene with Lex Sabre. Jan, who doesn’t do anything personally for this reviewer, takes his sweet time getting down to the business of going down. What seems like an eternity later, Lex returns the favor. Eventually, Jan bottoms for Lex. The scene is lackluster and, again, just a bit tedious.
The final scene brings back Benjamin, who is the real star of the show, and partners him with muscle bear Ty Riggz. This could have been a great scene. Again paired with a hot, older guy, Benjamin is as enthusiastic as one could possibly hope. And when Ty lifts Benjamin up easily to drop him on a platform and blow him, anyone who likes a super-butch top will be more than pleased. Again, though, the scene could have used a strong editorial hand.
This is a fairly average film that could have been great if it were cut down by about 45 minutes and had another scene thrown in. Luca DiCorso is sexy and appealing, but he’s underused. You can, though, count me among Benjamin Bradley’s newest fans. He needs a better vehicle, but he’s a star in the making. The film comes with a second DVD of extras that suffer the same problems as the movie, but with a deft hand on the fast forward button, there are small treasures to be found in the behind-the-scenes doc.
