When New Wave Hookers first hit the scene over 20 years ago, the porno-friendly public had no idea what to make of this new adult film. The results were mixed; the action was hot, the story was odd, the outfits were funky (even for the times), and the acting was not half bad (it’s actually some of the better dialogue work I’ve seen in an adult film). At the time, NWH turned a few heads; a few. Now, over two decades and three sequels later, New Wave Hookers has become a groundbreaking adult film that easily holds up against the heavy hitters of today. VCA is making Christmas (or Hanukah if you so choose) come early this year with the number one gift for classic porno fans: the New Wave Hooker Box Set! New Wave Hookers 1, 2, 3, and 4 together in one set for the first time anywhere.  

With four films to choose from, a fan could get lost in all the action contained within. It’s best to start at the beginning with the original New Wave Hookers. NWH is the story of a couple of guys (Baker and Gillis) who daydream about opening an escort service where the girls get hot from listening to “new wave music…that funky ass rock ‘n’ roll.” From the start, the action and the imagery is nothing short of uncanny, while remaining sexy. The major highlight of NWH is Ginger Lynn’s DP from Steve Powers and Tom Byron, which comes up in the middle of the film.  

New Wave Hookers 2 places Baker as Willie, a cult leader pimp whose followers are a group of gorgeous prostitutes. The Dark Brothers give their fans everything they’ve hoped for and more in this smoking sequel. Once the sex starts, it never stops as the film opens with a montage of the women, Willie’s introduction, and then a fun alleyway threesome between Madison, Peter North, and Tom Chapman. NWH 2 is filled with stylish group scenes where the men outnumber the women, the women outnumber the men, or it’s such a funky orgy you don’t really care if the numbers are equal.  

The next serving, New Wave Hookers 3, takes a different approach to the classic escort service story. Jon Dough tells us how he made it to the big brothel in the sky by making some smart (and dirty) business moves while back on earth; business that involves Rocco Siffredi, a master whore, and a handful of women. The action is top quality here as well, though this entry seemed to lose some of the heat that was coming from the previous installments.  

Closing out the set is New Wave Hookers 4, the ultimate climax for the fans. By now, the story has gone completely off the deep end while still being about prostitutes. Some of the scenes are slightly odd (beware of the opening foursome where the men are dressed as clowns) but remain unbelievably hot with much of the focus being on anal and some DPs (the closing orgy is a perfect example).  

Any fan of the classics or collector of quality porn will want the New Wave Hookers Box Set in their possession. The Dark Brothers started a revolution in porno by taking plot, costumes, and soundtrack to a whole new world of erotica. The end result is one of the best adult film series ever. Oh, and the original theme song is really catchy too.
