At the start of Chris Ward's intensely hot flick Mirage, a group of sweaty, half-dressed men enter a small Egyptian tomb in search of a golden idol. They find it, but in the ensuing struggle, Huessein's clothing is ripped from his hairy, muscular body--and for the next 25 minutes, everyone forgets about the golden idol as they focus on more carnal treasures instead.

Mirage is a sequel, in theme only, to last year's best-selling and award-winning Arabesque, also from Ward and Raging Stallion Studios. It's a worthy successor and well worth your investment (of time, money, *and* lube). The plot involves a golden idol, a brazen theft, an airplane escape, and a string of other excuses for sizzling man-on-man sex.

The men are uniformly amazing. It's impressive just how well Ward and his crew cast the film, because there's someone for almost every taste--Caucasian, African, Latin American, Eastern European; smooth, slightly hairy, fuzzy all or over; blonde(ish) or dark and smoldering. Even the collection of dicks on display is a comprehensive overview of the shapes and thicknesses a cock can have.

It's hard to focus on just a few details in a review this short, when you have something like five hours of sex to choose from. Some highlights from Disc 1 include tattooed Marc LaSalle and Rambo as they fuck, Max Schutler straddling Steven Cruz and Tommy Blade and coming on their faces while they kiss, Schutler squatting over Justin Christopher's submarine of a dick and riding it wildly, and Steve Cruz sucking and being fucked by several men. Tommy Blade stands out as an eager and fresh performer whose pouty lips are begging for a dick to be pressed against them. Blade seems hungry for cum even though, this being a mainstream film, he can't actually taste any of it--he looks like he's having to hold himself back from slurping it off of every chest, beard, and dick. Disc 2 features Dirk Jager as an evil sheik (I guess?) being serviced by an attentive servant. Jager is one of those surreally perfect specimens of manhood you only find in porn--he has a gorgeous face, a mean and sexy persona, and a superhero's physique. Other scenes include an ocean-side fantasy sequence between Cruz, Jake Deckard, and Colin O'Neal, and an extended final sequence where Cruz is caught and "punished" by his captors by being forced to--oh no!--suck and be fucked by everyone in sight.

As I said above, this is 100% mainstream porn: one scene after another of cock sucking, ass eating, and fucking with a condom. However, the models use a new type of condom that's less reflective and shorter than most, which means in some scenes you can't even see it. On his blog, Ward has talked about this and explained the commercial factors behind the new approach, which is that bareback films vastly outsell condom films in today's market, but Raging Stallion wants to continue to produce safe-sex films only. To be honest, it doesn't feel like you're watching bareback sex. It does, however, allow you to focus more on the flesh and less on the latex when you're watching a fucking scene, and I appreciated it.

The high-def film has an over-the-top production value, with detailed sets, picturesque locations, an evocative score, professional quality editing, and sexy costumes, including low-cut Moroccan-style pants that are designed to make you want to pull them down and dive into a man's ass. It's without a doubt worth its retail price and deserves a permanent place on your video shelf.
