Paul Barresi has a thing for camouflage. In Marine Base Instinct, a new release from Regiment Productions, Barresi takes us once more to the military base. You have to give credit to his location scout – the setting looks real enough, even if the models he uses wouldn’t make it past the recruiter’s offices, much less boot camp. This is a consistent problem in Barresi’s military-themed fuck flicks – you can dress a guy up like a Marine but you can’t make him carry himself like one.
Chip Noll and Tom Adams are two of Barresi’s latest recruits and they just want to find a place to fuck. They manage to find a secluded spot in an abandoned warehouse – complete with a mattress! – and get down to it only to be interrupted by Stonie.
Stonie has been a hot commodity in porn in the past few years and I’m still trying to figure out why. It may be because he comes off as somewhat 'street' as he postures on film. When he threatens to turn his gay Marine pals in, Noll bites the bullet and marches off to fess up to the Cap’n, hoping to avoid bigger military punishments. Turns out Stonie, that sneaky little bastard, only wanted to suck Adams’ cock without Noll hovering nearby.
Stonie does have a cute ass and Adams likes licking it. The fuck between them, however, is utterly unremarkable and is very fastforwardable.
Zavier Collins and Mikel Lowe are also having a hard time finding a place to fuck. Since the abandoned warehouse is becoming less and less abandoned, they take their passions to a seedy motel. Collins and Lowe are both skinny boys, one white and one mixed race. They reminded me of the scuzzy boys for hire along Sunset Strip with zero sex appeal. But Barresi puts ‘em in military garb and sets ‘em loose in front of a camera in this next scene. The sex between these two models is again, unimaginative. These two boys and their sex play might appeal to someone who likes twinks, but I wouldn’t stop what I was doing to join them if asked.
As I continued to watch Instinct, I began to smell a plot theme. Dereck Bishop and Ethan Starr, two more likely pickups from the Sunset Strip, boldly consult Stonie, asking if he knows a place where they can get it on. Stonie sends them to the good old standby – you guessed it – the abandoned warehouse.
This pairing had a little more of that elusive 'hot factor.' Neither has a remarkable body, but they do have sexual chemistry. Hairy-chested Bishop knows how to tease a cock and practices his technique on a ready Starr. He spends some time pit worshiping before the two get involved in some heavy 69’ing. Starr tops Bishop, but the ending of the scene was not nearly as erotic as the build up.
Finally, Barresi pairs Cap’n Michael Brandon with the not so hot Chip Noll. What a let down! I was hoping that Barresi would find someone to match Michael Brandon’s sexual smokiness, and Noll was the last guy in Barresi’s list of models I wanted to see linked with Brandon.
I remained focused on Brandon as he stripped down and got head. Brandon makes the most out of any bad casting and is magnetic to watch. Here, he fingers himself while Noll attacks ‘The Monster’ before allowing Noll to taste his hole. Barresi films Brandon topping Noll from above, then switches angles when Noll sits on it. Noll isn’t a bad bottom, but he’ll never be a match on screen for the likes of Michael Brandon.
Watching Marine Base Instinct, I came across nothing surprising or different from the formula Barresi uses in all his military-themed productions. The models are average looking, the sequence of sexual events is predictable and he even uses the same soundtrack. The DVD version of Instinct also gives the viewer nothing remarkable; it contains the standard photo gallery, previews, and navigation tools as all his other films.
