Even within the rarified genre of transgender porn, House of She-Males is sui generis, not just for what goes on—solo jack-off only—but because of the types of she-males featured: voluptuous. Which means every one has had quite a bit of plastic surgery. But they all look pretty good. They all have large breasts, thin waists and exceptional bundas (that’s Brazilian for budonka-donk). And cocks.

So if that’s what you’re looking for—to appreciate the finest he-shes Brazil (or Spain, or Portugal, or wherever director Nacho Vidal finds them) has to offer, your cup runneth over with this flick. If you’re not totally into the transgendered, and are perhaps just curious, this is a great place to start, perfect for beginners who prefer the “she” in “she-male” and get off on the forbidden aspect of it all. And my sense of things is that this is just who this series is marketed toward. Watching a penis being stroked is, after all, kinda gay, but since there’s no buttfucking involved (as in Joey Silvera’s Rogue Adventures series) and they all have big boobs and huge asses, the bi-curious can watch with his sense of hetero-ness more or less intact.

Each of the 14 scenes has Nacho himself filming one of the man-femmes in what looks like a hotel room. You can hear in Nacho’s voice that he is turned on, and the sound of him speaking Spanish, coaxing them out of their flashy and unusual outfits, adds a considerable degree of eroticism to the proceedings. (In the scene with Gisela Ferraz, it looks and sounds like he takes off his clothes and jerks off too. There’s no way of knowing for sure.) These are solo masturbation scenes with lots of tease, but the interaction between object and subject gives you a sense of the personalities of these men/women, none of whom speak English. Some are unquestionably exhibitionists; others seem, well, not exactly embarrassed, but a little unsure of themselves. All are eager to please and heed every one of the director’s commands.

These types of scenes—with Gisela, for instance, and Valeria—are the most exciting. The girly boys are dressed up like harlots, but this is a very private act. As what they’re doing becomes public, the sense of transgression, and of sin, is redoubled. And the fact that they’re being filmed by a straight (or ostensibly straight) man who never touches them makes what they’re doing seem even more transgressive. It’s a very compelling viewing experience. Throughout the movie you hear nothing but Nacho’s whispers, the stars’ “oohs” and “ahhs,” along with the sound of a zipper being slowly unzipped or a leather boot crinkling. Like nothing else you’re likely to see; very Evil Angel.

Nacho Vidal may be a loon, but that’s his strength, along with his gutsy dedication to that sensibility. The talent of one of the best porn auteurs working today shines through in House of She-Males.
