Tristan Taormino is one of the leading experts on sexuality, but doesn’t lecture about sex in the typical, snooty way other sex experts do on daytime talk shows. She’s not afraid to perform in front of the camera, nor is she afraid to take chances in House Of Ass, her first stab at directing an adult film in six years. Its real porn meets gonzo, but for men and women. Unless you’re the viewer who only fast forwards to the sex, you will be captivated into hearing real thoughts of these performers in what is a unique video that delves into the mind of porn stars.

The goal of this project, as Tristan discusses, was to see how porn stars would act when they are out of their element, and placed in a home together. The performers were scheduled to have sex with one member of the cast, but then interact with other houseguests, just to see what would happen. I suppose it’s fair to say that if you put porn stars in a home in the country, with cameras, sex would take place. But, how does it happen? Do any of the performers strike out? Is there real genuine chemistry that can develop when two performers spend time together? Or, as in the case of one real life porn couple, can tension arise, causing people to just split?

This experiment is actually interesting to watch, especially the discussions between scenes where Tristan engages the performers into a discussion about various topics regarding sex. Now, for those of you who don’t want to lose the fantasy element of porn, or insist that everything happening in a porn film is real, House Of Ass will spoil it for you. The performers come off as average people who just happen to do porn for a living. They share with one another what it is that they want out of their sexual experiences, their likes and dislikes, their views on sexuality, and they discuss themselves, quite openly, in the confessional. We find out about the performer, not the image, the T&A, or the body, but who this person is. Porn stars are usually asked the same questions over again, and their responses are generally the same. Here, they go more in depth, and if you think porn stars have nothing interesting to say, don’t watch this film with your hands in your pants; watch it with an open mind knowing that this is different than the usual skin flick you’re used to.

Don’t get me wrong, the sex is still hot but this is definitely a DVD you’ll actually want to hear what the performers have to say and maybe learn a thing or two. Who says porn can’t be educational. You can still stroke yourself to it, especially with vixens such as Keani Lei, Sarah Blake and Justine Joli who go at each other in a sexy girl on girl tryst. And jerk it to Joanna Angel, pre alt porn queen, getting drilled by Scott Nails, and pummeled by Mr. Marcus, who each get their turns going in and out of her butt. This porn experiment works because it’s genuine. This is real porn, not to be confused with “reality” porn. It’s sex the way it would happen, if people got over their hang-ups, and started getting in touch with their true sexual desires.
