The idea behind Hook-Ups is porn stars choosing their own partners or hooking up their favorite stars with each other. It sounds marvelous: Reality Porn. In practice, it just didn’t seem real enough to me. The problem wasn’t with the bulk of the sex--it was with phony monologues, strobe light effects, and boring set themes. I hope porn stars are usually more creative than they were depicted as in Hook-Ups. I personally don’t think many of them would miss an opportunity to express themselves. Something tells me the whole storyline was a work of fiction. But, at least Hook-Ups offers us a good concept. Thanks to the stars, it had many more good points. Not every scene was appealing to me, but the movie did have its upsides. The very beginning of the movie is the best. Dru Berrymore chooses Rafe as her fuck de jour, but it isn’t Dru, but Rafe’s animal grunts that stuck the first chord with me. And his sex-talk is on a simple, insistent and realistic level. For instance, he calls her a “fucking bowling ball bitch,” as he has her bounce up all the way and back down on his cock. He slaps her ass as they fuck. It all works. At the start of the scene, Dru told us that Rafe gives, “The best anal cock ever.” We witness this with our own eyes as his thick shaft works on her bowling ball asshole. She gets good and noisy herself--at points we hear her saying things like, “Put your cock in my ass,” and “Fuck that ass!” In the second scene, Nicole Sheridan hooks Holly Hollywood up with Voodoo, as she goes at it with another guy. At the start of the act Nicole says she calls Holly, “The cat.” Why? Because “she has a nice pussy.” Despite that declaration, Holly and Nicole don’t have much action between them. Two blond heads bobbing up and down on the guys’ cocks take up a large portion of the film.
Other segments feature was a lot of girl-on-girl sex. Much of this has too much posing to be believable. Of all those scenes the best is when Stephanie Swift hooks herself up with Cynara Fox. Fox has an edgy alternative look with a pierced pussy and a sizzling snake tattoo. Stephanie shows off her skill with a strap-on, fucking Cynara doggie style on a chaise lounge. Hook-Ups certainly had a lot of beautiful people. Even though I got bored before I reached the end, what did work, worked well. It was professional sex performed by true pros. I could be wrong; maybe the stars did have control of the story; I don’t know what goes on in the minds of porn stars. Perhaps someday someone will make a porn film that will enlighten me. Hook-Ups
