Blue Pictures’ latest release, Eye Candy Volume 3 is in this reviewer’s mind, a highly flawed film – a film that’s flawed on several levels, simultaneously. And indeed, these flaws would be highly irritating to perhaps even the least discriminating of pornophiles. On the packaging, Blue Pictures proudly boasts that the DVD version of Eye Candy Vol. 3 has all the prerequisite goodies that we all expect and demand on our DVD’s: “Behind-the-Scenes” footage, Pop Shot Technology, (for those who really just want to get to the point) interactive menus, etc. And after popping the DVD into my DVD player, I was shocked and annoyed that Eye Candy didn’t contain a single menu or chapter guide or anything else. The only way for the viewer to access favorite scenes is to continually hold their fingers on their trusty fast forward and rewind buttons, instead of having their fingers anyplace else. Without even the most minimal of menus, the film abruptly starts with the beginning credits. And here’s the strangest thing – this is perhaps the strangest thing I’ve seen out of any movie I’ve ever seen – the starting credits don’t list the studio, the cast, the producer, the writers or anyone else. The only way you’ll ever find out is to watch the entire movie until the end . . . or fast forward repeatedly!
But what was the most annoying and irritating aspect of Eye Candy Volume 3 was that it was perhaps the most repetitious porno this pornophile has seen in recent memory. Each scene employed the same positions – blowjob, oral, missionary, cowgirl, reverse cowgirl, doggy, anal, guy carrying girl as girl bounces on guy’s dick – but the only variation appeared to be in the ordering of positions and length. And it became infuriating to hear the exact same dirty dialogue repeatedly. In most of the scenes, the male half says “Oh it’s so tight” (referring to his female counterpart’s pussy) to every girl he fucked. We’re talking about hearing this guy say the same things to 4 or 5 different girls. After a while it all seems to be a repetitious blur of images and words. To make matters seemingly worse, the camera angles added to the sense of repetition. How many genital shots (as characters are fucking) and close ups must we see? Many of the positions felt as if took way too long thanks to the reluctance to change angles and perspectives.
As for the sex besides the fact that it’s terribly repetitious it leaves much to be desired. All but one scene – one scene out of like 5 – seemed to have much in the way of a primal urgency or lust. Might it be considered odd that in the very first scene, a female character has sex with a store clerk – a clerk that oddly looks like a mechanic – for a cabinet, of all things? In other words, for the most part the sex, although professionally done comes off as if done for a paycheck. And sadly, in most instances throughout, I thought to myself, “Did they really cum?” It seemed truly difficult to believe that the women were enjoying it as much as the men did.
Overall the film was a major disappointment in almost every aspect often being more annoying than hot because of its lack of originality, it’s lack of urgency and lust and its difficulty maneuvering around the DVD. EyeCandyVolume3
