Independent production companies now dot the porn landscape like neon lights on the Vegas strip. It’s a reality now that has brought with it a glut of cash into the porn industry, but has also produced some of the worst porn in recent memory. It is still beyond me to think that there are enough wanna-be porn actresses out there to star in the ever-growing host of low value porn. Red Light District Video is not necessarily a peddler of the low value variety of porn; it fits somewhere between the totally depraved, low budget, handheld video stuff and the halfway decent films of min-major production companies.

Red Light has a fairly impressive line of films out on the market, but “Epic Global Orgies” isn’t one of them. I’m surprised something as ambitious as this film failed so spectacularly. I hesitate to give this film lower than a 2 ½ star rating considering the logistics involved in getting this project off the ground. But still, one must have some standards.

“Epic Global Orgies” is divided into two parts: the L.A. orgy and the Prague orgy. Can you guess which is the sketchier of the two? Red Light must have a talent scouting agency in the Czech Republic because that is the only reason I can see to have something like a Prague orgy. Are there really enough people out there who have a fetish for sex scenes filmed in Prague? I even hazard to say that they didn’t really go to Prague, considering the whole orgy is filmed in a very impressive mansion with no landmarks in sight. It doesn’t bother me though, I wouldn’t know what to look for anyway.

Red Light has taken a page out of Seymour Butts' book with regard to the entire film. “Epic Global Orgies” is a flagrant copy of the style and substance of pretty much any Butts project. The one thing “Epic Global Orgies” lacks is the sense of humor and the ferocious talent that Butts employs. What we are left with here is a vast array of sketchy sex scenes filmed with over exuberant men and spaced-out women.

Someone must have put valium in the ladies' drinking water. I really can’t blame them though, considering how much of a pain in the ass it must’ve been to film an orgy, any orgy. You have to set everything up, start a sex scene in one room, and then join up in another with the rest of the sex performers; you have to wait around for the various camera setups; you have to sit around twiddling your thumbs waiting for each guy to drop his load, along with a series of other things that I can’t even really imagine, to be honest.

The reason “Epic Global Orgies” fails to please is because of the utter lack of thought put into the project. The director, David Luger, probably thought that if he convinced a large number of guys and a larger number of girls to engage in an orgy, all he would have to do is set up the camera. The fact is that this is rarely a formula for success in the world of porn. The setups in this film are boring, the girls are lackluster, the men are too intense and nasty for their own good, and finally, the sex just takes too damn long! The only thing epic about these orgies is how long they last. Each of the two orgies move around the house they are filmed in to such and extent that you almost feel like you’re being given a walking tour.

With all this said there is still some hope for this film if you like scenes of lots of women having sex, and bully for you if you like Eastern European women because the Prague orgy is filled with them. I think it’s safe to say that if you’re familiar with Red Light District’s style and are not put off by the above criticisms, you’ll have enough here to satisfy you’re craving for porn.
