I have so many good things to say about “Calendar Girls” I honestly do not know where to start. I guess the best place is with my favorite thing about this movie: Judy White. Call me sentimental, or just plain old fashioned, but I adore pornstars like Judy White, the throwback women of porn with natural bodies, and that ‘70s look in the eye. Despite the fact that Judy White is obviously not American (she’s probably European judging from a smattering of her accent) she has that classic porn look. The most modern porn equivalent is Juli Ashton, and even though she’s getting on in years, she still retains that pristine body and beautiful breasts.
After giving it some thought “Calendar Girls” is very much trying to cater to our ideals of the classic porn vision. The whole movie is structured like a pinup calendar, with a neat graphic introducing each scene. The setting of each sex scene is wonderful and clean, trying to fit into the look and theme of each Calendar Girl.
The second best thing about this movie is the very first scene, a spectacular girl/girl/boy featuring the classiest porn starlet in the movie Kira Kiss. Kira is dressed and made up to look like a pinup girl from the late ‘50s. She even has a wax works look to her features that makes the scene even more fantastic.
Puritan 50 is the production company here, and even though I’ve never heard of them before, I’m very curious to see what their other products are like. Obvious care has been taken in the production and staging of this movie, from the looks of the girls, to the set-ups, to the calendar graphic introducing each scene.
“Calendar Girls” is a tour through 5 decades of porn evolution; rarely is there so much care given to the theme of a movie. I was so impressed with Puritan 50’s description of their own film I have to conclude this review with a scene-by-scene summary as stated by Puritan:
1. Kira Kiss, Jenny Love, and Max Payne enjoy a “nostalgic 1964 living room romp.”
2. “It’s swinging 1974 and we see Simone Simmons, Antonio, and Thomas in a sexy game of strip poker.”
3. “Step back to 1984 and watch as material girls Tiffany Marie and Caroline Defay show the guys how to play games. These girls just want to have fun!”
4. “Fetish queen Tiffany Tims is worshipped by slaves Viktor and Alex. Intense DP action ensues in this scene from 1994.”
“At the 2004 Art Expo and Judy White admires the paintings….All Judy’s holes are filled on this opening night. CalendarGirls”
