Verbal foreplay followed by a solo session of stripping, posing, stroking and shooting. That’s what you get, times 16, in the fifth installment of Bel Ami’s XL Files series.

I’ve not seen parts one through four but you don’t have to be a gifted psychic to accurately guess that this latest installment provides all the reliable if somewhat predictable thrills of its predecessors. Consistency of product is part of the BelAmi style, and a large part of its appeal. Like so many previous videos from this studio, the bread and butter comes from a new roster of fresh-faced, athletic, young (18-25 year-old) men whose bodies come in three styles: wiry, lean and built. They have the kind of taut and defined shapes that can only belong to physically active jocks (many show off their tai chi and boxing moves while naked). That some of them identify as straight or bi also ups the forbidden factor and makes their journey from inexperienced stripper to enthusiastic masturbator all the more hot and fun to watch.

Each of these Eastern European men are willing and turned on by the prospect of jacking off to completion in front of the camera. They’re also exceptionally well hung. That’s the promise of this particular series, and it delivers—with exceptionally large erect dicks unburdened by pubic hair. Despite the optical illusion of size that shaving is said to give, there’s no forced perspective or camera trickery at work. These are all big-dicked boys whose members are sometimes freakishly disproportionate to their bodies.

More than the solo sex on display here, voyeurism and the initiation of the inexperienced is what gives the film its appeal. Each of the 16 manage to project sweetness and innocence, with a swirl of perversity just below the surface that asserts itself in moments of candid admissions to the camera, the taking off of a shirt, or the first display of what these cocky young men know is a member of rare size and shape.

Each opening section contains a fully clothed interview where the unseen cameraman lobs softball questions about their age, where they go to college, and what sports they like. After the 10th answer of soccer, the mysterious allure of these Eastern European boys begins to wane. But the tame questions are merely setups for the more intimate probing of sexual preference, boyfriend status, and last time they jacked off or had sex. These confessions occur as the clothes come off, and often prove to be the more titillating than the actual masturbation.

To that end, the film could greatly benefit from complete subtitles of the entire conversation. Although we get a sense of most of what’s being said in Czech, there are gaps in the give and take between cameraman and model that elicit a devilish grin from the model—an event that demands explanation.

The three extras are: “Orgasm” features the cumshots of all 16 models. Graffiti is a trailer preview for an upcoming film that looks to be nothing particularly special: lots of boys having clumsy body paint fights. BelAmio is a guide to their website content, in Czech and English, that promises access to “scenes filmed exclusively for BelAmi members.” Sadly, there’s no additional footage or outtakes from the interviews. Considering the reality show-like confessional nature of the film, that seems like a missed opportunity.
