An adult film story line makes about as much sense to me as a cheese flavored chocolate bar. I’ve always wondered, “who, beside the clinically insane and the truly lonely, actually follows an adult film story line?” I assume that there’s either a demand for these plot driven porno movies, or a bunch of directors set on attempting to tell a story around the usual assemblage of fucking. Whatever the case may be, the terrible acting and atrocious story lines are just as much a part of adult film as the sex is. So rather than question its existence, it doesn’t hurt to sit back and enjoy the comedy.

Now, famous porn director Robby D uses his signature touch of campiness and drama in Digital Playgrounds “Beat The Devil.” The quality here is very good. Well lit video looks like film, and as a former film student, I had trouble identifying the format it was shot on. The camera work is perfect and the stylistic editing gives a look reminiscent of David Fincher’s “Seven.”

The story line begins strangely and kind of cruelly. A severely crippled man (Eric Masterson) walks past a woman that laughs at his misfortune. At a bus stop he meets the devil (Evan Stone) who he sells his soul to. Of course the exchange is for a cripple free exterior, money, women and all that other good stuff.

The now aged Masterson is then shown with the very sexy Jesse Jane, who is told of his rise from nothing to an extraordinary something. His story leads to a sexy flashback with Masterson and Angel Long. Ms. Long is terribly hot and in my opinion the sexiest in the film. She sensually gets finger blasted by the film's star, awaiting the inevitable. The long winded foreplay is a great teaser before Angel gets a pounding from the newly successful protagonist.

There are some great scenes in this one. One notable is of Jana Cova and Monique Dane getting down in a nice blond girl-on-girl segment as Masterson looks on. Arguably the best part of this film though, is Jesse Jane’s scene. This is Ms. Jane’s first “boy/girl” scene, which makes it even hotter. Legend Mark Davis gets the pleasure of the on screen deflowering of Jesse. She seductively takes on Davis like a seasoned veteran. On a red leather sofa, Davis eats every inch of her lovely shaved pussy. Before long Jesse sucks off Davis’ uncircumcised member. Long story short, the two fuck like maniacs, and it all ends with Mark blasting all over Jesse's tummy. At the end of the scene Mark is sent into a epileptic type frenzy. Poisonous pussy? I guess this one’s left up to interpretation.

Anyway, notable features are a short behind the scene's segment, photo gallery and some coming attractions for other available DP DVDs. Story line or no story line, the on screen action, high production value and very sexy cast are enough to forget the predictable, silly plot. You never know, maybe somebody out there actually enjoyed this rehashed story-line.
