Japanese porn varies in quality; encompassing some of the most erotic stuff ever committed to grainy videotape, but also producing fringe-fetish porn that’s so disgusting, it would wilt the hard-on of even the most desensitized porn reviewer. When it’s good, though, I tend to like it, which was why I was looking forward to Hustler’s new title in their Asian Fever series: Tokyo Girls.
Clearly marketed towards fans of girls of the Asian persuasion, Hustler’s Tokyo Girls sees director and stunt-cock Valentino trawl the streets of Tokyo looking for a bit of cross-cultural copulation. With Hustler’s trademark pragmatism, that’s exactly what the DVD delivers.
If you like the idea of satisfying your fetish for Japanese girls by living vicariously through Valentino’s dick, this DVD delivers what you’d want. Tokyo Girls comprises five scenes, all featuring Valentino bringing back one or two Japanese girls to the same apartment and then having rather formulaic sex with them.
But the best part is also the worst part of Tokyo Girls—the total lack of variety. Not only are all fives scenes filmed in the same poorly decorated apartment, all the sex seems to take place on the same ratty wicker chaise. In every vignette, Valentino whips out his cock, which remains resolutely flaccid through the oral scenes, before moving onto cunnilingus, vaginal and, about half the time, anal sex. The final money shot is delivered right on the kisser in each of the five scenes.
Now don’t get me wrong. Each of the girls Valentino brings back is a cute, girl-next-door type and they perform admirably. The problem is, if you accidently pressed ‘next scene’ instead of ‘next chapter’ on your DVD player, the scenes are so identical, you might not even notice.
The strongest segments are the two last ones, in which Valentino brings two girls home instead of just one. The sight of two pretty Japanese girls slobbering over his cock would have been electric for most of us—if Valentino had managed to maintain a half-hearted erection, that is. Fortunately, that (literally) limp segment is made up for by watching the girls then clamber into a 69 position, sucking and licking each other while Valentino reams one of them vaginally (or anally) from behind.
The girls all outperform our American star. None of them were exactly model gorgeous (and in Japanese porn, I’ve seen some real heartbreakers get up to the most perverted things) but they all have lean, lithe bodies, silky hair and beautiful complexions.
What makes Japanese porn so different to mainstream American erotica, as ably demonstrated in Tokyo Girls, is how these lovely ladies get down and dirty. In America, porn stars perform like they’re getting paid for it (which, I suppose, they are). They dive into blowjobs and rimming with lip-smacking abandon and demand: “Fuck me harder! Deeper!” as they get reamed.
Japanese porn stars, on the other hand, are the very epitome of submissiveness. In Tokyo Girls, for example, they shyly shuffle into Valentino’s apartment, clutching his hand. Then they giggle girlishly, looking away from the camera as he strips them of their panties. During sex, the muffled squeaks and moans almost sound reluctant—and the groans and grunts they make as Valentino struggles to penetrate their assholes turns out to be astoundingly erotic.
So for that reason, I’m much divided over my overall opinion of Tokyo Girls. In many respects, it couples some of the best aspects of American porn (the oversized penises and lack of pixilated censorship) to some of the most erotic aspects of Japanese sex movies (the shy girls and soundtrack of squeaks and squeals).
On the other hand, it’s repetitive, Valentino combines lack-of-performance with a creepy mid-80s wardrobe and sometimes you get the feeling that the reluctant girls aren’t just pretending to be reluctant when it comes to coupling with him.
If you’re really into porn featuring Asian women, I suppose Tokyo Girls does its job well enough. Truth be told, though, you’re likely to find much better examples of Japanese-style porn and hot Asian girls elsewhere.
Tokyo Girls isn’t terrible. It’s just not great. If Valentino had booked a nicer hotel suite, swallowed a Viagra and worked through some of the positions in the Kama Sutra, this entire DVD would have been a much more attractive proposition. AsianFever:TokyoGirls
