When Anabolic and Diabolic merged in the mid-90s, they were at the forefront of high-quality gonzo pornography. Well-funded and well-connected within the industry, the two companies produced famous lines like Nasty Nymphos that proved to have a prolonged shelf life. Then, the pornography industry started to come out of its shell in the late-90s/early-00s, and issues of film ownership saw Anabolic/Diabolic pioneers Lexington Steele, Erik Everhard and Vince Vouyer begin making porn for different studios in 2004. Rather than take these developments in stride as a natural metamorphosis of a successful company in booming industry, Diabolic delivers us fare like Anal Asspirations 4.

If the cast list looks unfamiliar, that’s because it’s populated by European women, many of which are making their first Diabolic picture. This leaves a lot of unanswered questions, including just how much tread some of these girls have left on their tires.

It’s not all bleak: covergirl Coreena (appearing here as Cory Baby) has the kind of fantasy body that was made for porn. She’s been cutting her teeth since 1999 and this is her 4th Diabolic production. Hardcore films that include lots of Anal and DP are not an amateur’s field, and Coreena is a shining example of how these scenes should look. Her ass was made for this scene, even when she’s anally taking her male co-stars to the hilt, the junk in her trunk firmly grips them like two beautiful bookends. Appearing with her hair newly died jet black, she is smoking hot and draws the camera directly into the action with her dark, piercing eyes.

Sadly, her 20 minutes is the highlight of this film. Asspirations 4 suffers from the crew’s indifference to the title orifice. When it boils down to the sex, there is little variation in the performances regardless of what below-the-equator hole is being plugged. Toys move freely between vaginal and anal probing while the reactions of most of the stars stay exactly the same. In the scene with Liza and Tommy Steel, the noises of both stars stay at a consistent plateau of unenthusiastic moans and nonplussed hisses. Due to some well-hidden bottles of lube, each initial thrust loses all of its edge. At a few points throughout the film, I was unsure if I was watching an anal film because a shot was too wide and the stars gave me no indication.

A plethora of the current Diabolic lines seem to be the same sort of sex without paying specific attention to genre of film. For every truly gonzo title like A Perverted Point of View, there are half a dozen lines like Gangbang Auditions, Debauchery and 2 on 1 that offer similar combinations and scenes. It’s one thing to play to a niche that wants to watch this type of sex, but the promise of interesting anal that this film’s title implies is really more of an unfulfilled aspiration.
