Miranda Austin introduces us to a world that few have roamed (or will admit to): the world of phone sex. She tells us all about how the calls are handled and paid for, as well as a glimpse of her own unusual turn-ons and fantasies. Phone Sex simply tells us all about the adventures of an independent phone sex girl, who works from home. And most surprising of all you will learn that sometimes even the phone sex girl gets off as well. Miranda Austin elaborates on the vagueness of many callers and their inability to properly verbalize their fantasies and desires, and just how important this is to the success of the calls. She explains that the fantasies can be as elaborate, risqué and taboo as you can imagine. With a discreet cover and the title in nondescript letters at an angle on the front cover, someone would have to get pretty close to see what you’re reading. It’s well worth the risk of being found out to carry this book with you on public transportation. This is presupposing of course that you’re interested in reading about the world of phone sex to begin with. The chapters are laid out and broken down by chapters describing the most memorable of Austin’s erotic oral and aural encounters. She describes them in a fun and personable manner. You can see from her lighthearted tone that she really enjoys what she does. And in doing this sort of work she has learned about sexuality and sexual fantasy, as well as to be a bit more open about some concepts.
Phone Sex will delight and entertain as well as inform and educate. With the myriad anecdotes regarding her experiences and her knowledge of this industry she gives inspiration to find out more about an industry that is very lucrative monetarily, not only for the companies, but also for the girls (or guys) on the phone. Miranda talks briefly about sex workers from many different avenues of the game and points out that no; they’re not all the same. There’s a big difference between a phone sex girl and a hooker. Not that she has a problem with the latter mind you, but just because someone talks about sex doesn’t necessarily mean that they are willing to be paid to have sex in real life. She emphasizes these points because apparently men who call often still don’t get that concept. She talks about her experiences taking on various phone sex girl roles, from a hardcore dominatrix, to a Japanese American Valley girl, as well as the different clientele attracted to each.
There are many erotic stories throughout. Even though that may not be the point of the book, you can’t help being caught up in the fantasies. She has a knack for describing fantasies, as do her callers, which make many of these fantasies irresistible. Miranda also describes the most unusual fantasies and the most hilarious, from berries between your toes to the guy who doesn’t just want to fuck you but also has to repeat the phrase “fuck you” ad nauseum. This book is not only delightful, erotic and entertaining, but many people, especially the callers will come away with some new understanding and insight. But then again perhaps they (the callers) couldn’t handle their fantasy having any elements of reality other than the voice on the other end of the phone line. Some of the stories she shares will have you laughing out loud and some are just plain strange, while others are a bit creepy. But, even if you have no interest in the phone sex industry per se, everyone can find something entertaining in this tantalizing tome. At the end she even gives websites and literature for those who do wish to learn more about the industry even info for those who’d like to try their hand, so to speak, at being a phone sex girl, or guy.
Overall this book is an easy and entertaining read with information that perhaps current phone sex workers may not be aware of. And although it’s not going to win a Nobel Prize for literary merit, the text and chapters are easy to read, entertaining and, as expected, occasionally erotic. People should read this and it will give you conversation topics for days maybe even weeks to come. Miranda Austin’s Phone Sex is a delightful romp through a world which few have dared to tread.
