Make Your Own Sex Toys. No, it’s not a pop-up ad on your Internet browser. This book is great for those on a budget who’d like to add a little eclectic kinkiness to their love lives. Matt Pagett takes materials from everyday life and weaves them (sometimes literally) into items one can use in foreplay and beyond. He has projects ranging from basic beginner, which are as simple as cutting and pasting, to very advanced projects for those who know their way around a knitting needle.
Matt Pagett organizes the book into sections by male, female, couples, etc. He offers cheaper suggestions within many projects. He starts with a section just for getting your design stats in order. Pagett recommends that you take your measurements for many of the projects that follow to ensure a perfect fit.
Make Your Own Sex Toys is a charming and friendly twist on arts and crafts. He includes some informative and rather trivial historical information as well as modern pertinent advice. He reminds women (and men) to always use caution and a condom on anything that is to be inserted into any orifice, whether it is a wooden phallus or a cucumber, safety should always come first. He encourages exploration of your and your partner’s bodies. It stands to reason that if you know your bodies, you can make even better toys to use on those bodies.
I found the instructions to be mostly clear and concise. However, the explanations for knitting were a little complex for those unfamiliar with that craft. And these techniques would only appeal to a small percentage of people. There is still something for everyone in this lustful little how-to, though I find it doubtful that many people would devote the time it takes to complete some of these projects. There’s a project that includes a recipe for a Jell-O molded pair of boobs as an alternative to a pocket pussy. I doubt many men want to insert their penis into something right out of the fridge. But the homemade handcuffs were a very useful and believable craft to add to your naughty boudoir, not to mention the money saved by not shelling out for fancy ready-made wrist cuffs.
Make Your Own Sex Toys is inspiring and erotically motivating in that it encourages and fosters the erotic imagination. It’s a bit of an eye-opener. This book would be a good bit of literature for those who want to try some kinky stuff but are too embarrassed to go to a sex toy shop. It encourages couples to use simple, easy-to-obtain materials in order to make their love lives spicier.
Much of Pagett’s Make Your Own Sex Toys is direct and believable. There are many projects within that can be done alone or with a partner. I would recommend this to those looking to spice up their sex life affordably and in secret. It offers direct, easy-to-understand language, along with helpful tips for many of the projects inside. Pagett leaves room in many for your own variations. There are no hard and fast rules in this craft book; it is a basic guide to foster your own imagination and make your sex life more exciting in your own way and at your own pace.
