Fetish 101 by Peter W. Czernich is a terrific way for the average or somewhat timid person to explore the fetish world in the comfort of their own home. It breaks down fetishism into categories and sections. This is a picture book without a lot of text, but the pictures speak for themselves.
The first category, “Body Beautiful” is an introduction to fetishes of the body such as body jewelry and big breasts. It also introduces us to everything about the human female form. You are enticed by the appreciation that fetishists have for women whether small and petite or of Amazonian proportion. There is something for all male tastes.
The second category is about role-playing and all aspects of it. It encourages more couple interaction with ideas for interactive play. There are the typically known roles such as French maid and cheerleader as well as more unusual roles such as pony girls. More for the submissive woman this role-play character can be as involved as incorporating special shoes a bridle and even a carriage in which the “master” would ride into the fantasy. The example of a goth girl was perhaps not as “goth” as it could’ve been. But it has only in recent years become an integral part of the fetish and B&D scenes.
The third category is titled, “Toys,” “Kinky Games” and “Bondage.” Seemingly self-explanatory, Czernich takes us above and beyond simply tying lovers up and blindfolding them. He illustrates many instances of being completely ensconced similar to sensory deprivation. There is also furniture designed specifically for its erotic design and/or appeal. Czernich explores the eroticism of playing with messy stuff such as mud and food.
In the fourth category section we get to discover the world of clothing and how much fun it can be, as well as how sexy. From high heels to hazmat suits we explore the sensuous feel of pantyhose and the allure of armor. The symbolism in the fetishists taste usually indicates their dominance or submission. For instance with a penchant for girls in uniforms of a commanding nature, your man is most likely of the submissive persuasion. But a man who wants a secretary or sexy French maid is most likely on the dominant side of the fence. For the truly unique lane of the fetish highway comes the hazmat suit. The allure lies in the nude female body being fully enclosed in the protection of the rubber suit.
The fifth and final category of Fetish 101 is all about sensations. Czernich briefly but succinctly feels out the eroticism of touch. From velvet to vinyl the realm of sensation is opened up. Velvet and satin are the fabrics that have been around the longest along with lace for the tastes of the classic fetishist. And rubber and latex are the comparatively more recent acquisitions to the world of fetish sensations.
This book provided diverse and varied entertainment for the senses. Fetish 101 shines a rational and reasonable light on the world of fetishism. Peter W. Czernich demystifies this seemingly scary and often taboo world of sensations and sensuality, looks and longing with class and directness. Czernich could have elaborated on some categories much more. He also could’ve left out the repetition of latex/rubber. It was a bit over-mentioned. Anyone not sure what the world of fetishism is should really check this book out, with an open mind of course. Overall this is an excellent first for those unfamiliar with fetishism and what it involves. Fetish101
