The Toy
Reviewed by SexHerald Staff

Despite the fact that The Toy was designed with a woman in mind, the pure gadgetry of the device indicates that men can play, too. The Toy is a vibrator--nothing new there--but, it's at the cutting edge of partner-friendly toys. While it can be used simply as a vibrator, there is an interesting alternative. One can enjoy the vibrator while somebody else controls it! Put yourself at the mercy of your companion and hope for the best.

The Toy looks like a vibrator. It is small, about 3-inches long. The innovation behind this device is inside it. It's controlled by a Bluetooth-enabled phone (you can find a list of compatible phones on their website). The phone operator can send SMS messages to The Toy itself, instructing the device as to its every move. As you move beyond the sheer novelty of The Toy, you can develop romantic text messages with sophisticated vibrator movements.

The recipient will not know what your messages are, but they will be well-received. Each letter in the alphabet, based on the design of The Toy, can have up to 45 effects. All 26 letters, as a result, yield a total set of 1,170 different effects, making the combinations endless. You'll probably continue to experiment with combinations when you're waiting for your grandkids to call. If they don’t, you'll still have a way to keep yourself busy.

There is no vibrator on the market with the depth of functionality that characterizes The Toy. This is where the use of a cell phone to control it is truly brilliant. Based on the design of a vibrator, there is only a limited amount of room for buttons and controls. The number of speeds tends to be limited as a result, and attempts to introduce a variety of motions usually result in a clumsy shape. The Toy, essentially, has moved the controls from the vibrator to the cell phone. With 26 letters in the alphabet and 45 potential movement combinations per letter, The Toy has harnessed the power of the alphabet as a control panel.

Getting started with The Toy can be a bit complex. I found it to be a little difficult, similar to any “assembly required” project I've undertaken. Once I figured out the “secret handshake," though, The Toy was remarkable. Having worked with a number of adult products and electrical devices, I have never had so much fun using one before. It was like playing with a new cell phone, laptop or television. The design is extraordinary, appealing to the gadget nature of men and the anatomy of women simultaneously.

The Toy is the best thing to come out of the UK since the Rolling Stones. Men, typically afraid of being replaced by the bevy of toys available to their wives and girlfriends, now have a reason to give up that insane fear and play along. The Toy is a bit costly, retailing for GBP140 (around US$250), but it will be the last vibrator you buy. Couples-friendly toys may be touted as a way to engage reticent male partners, but The Toy redefines the concept.
