Since Sex and the City made it famous, the rabbit-style vibrator has had scores of imitators with various features, functions and facets. Setting aside what Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha might think about these imitators, some of them might actually supersede the original product. California Exotics’ version, for example, while not “THE ORIGINAL” has plenty going on – almost all of it good.
Obviously, the key to being a “rabbit” vibrator is the presence of the clitoral stimulator in the form of a cute little bunny (in this case, a pink one for even more girly delight). This part of the toy is exactly what it should be: easy to control, made of soft, pliable plastic, and kicked up with powerful vibrations, courtesy of the 3 AA batteries (not included) that provide power to the whole toy. Unlike some toys that rely on a separate power source for clitoral stimulators in the form of smaller, more difficult-to-find batteries, the Slimline Passion Wave Jack Rabbit (or SPWJR) makes it much easier, even including what they call an “EZ-load battery pack” to make reloading the batteries a snap.
While the name includes the word “slimline,” don’t let that fool you into thinking this toy won’t satisfy a girl who likes a full feeling. At 1.5 inches around and 7” long, the SPWJR is just on the large side of an “average” size, creating an experience that will please novices seeking something cute, but powerful, and more experienced users looking to keep it simple.
The one feature that the SWPJR could do without is the inclusion of the “wave motion” that rolls up and down the “pleasure shaft.” With all the power concentrated in the bunny-shaped clitoral stimulator, the wave motion in the shaft is not really necessary and didn’t add anything notable to the experience – except the noise. When only the clitoral stimulator is turned on, at any of the three available speeds, the noise is noticeable but not distracting. However, when you throw the wave motion in there, the noise gets loud enough that your roommates might start to wonder if you’ve decided to install a trapdoor…by employing a jackhammer. Thankfully, however, the two functions are independently controlled, and really, the bunny is all you need.
The other thing that might give some consumers pause in considering the SWPJR is the price – an online search returned prices anywhere from around $80 to upwards of $130. That’s not chump change, people. But keep in mind that this really is a quality product, and honestly, the fact that it takes a regular size, relatively cheap battery (that you can easily grab out of your TV remote if you can’t find any others in your house…not that I have personal experience with doing such a thing) is in and of itself almost enough to make it worth the price tag. Add to the fact that OH MY GOD IT WORKS, and you’ve got yourself a nice new friend.
It’s not a coincidence that the SWPJR shares three initials with the ever-fashionable Sarah Jessica Parker – her hit show made it possible (in part, at least) for this product to exist. So let’s raise a glass to the ladies of Sex and the City – without their support, we might live in a world lacking the SWPJR (it’s pronounced “swip-jur”). And if you ask me, that’s not a world I care to inhabit. SlimlinePassionWaveJackRabbit
