Is it too much of a cliché to say that I picked up the Red Hots Scarlet Twister just because it was red? Maybe I discriminated against all the other vibrators, but this one looked like too much fun and with the twisted shaft, external vibrator and its waterproof powers, I was instantly sold! Plus, in the summer I have a bias towards things that resemble popsicles. You’ll be sold too, because this toy not only looks good but it feels good.
Upon opening up the Red Hots Scarlet Twister, I noticed how firm and iridescent the red color was. You can see into the shaft of the vibrator but not through it and is described as a “red translucent design.” The ridges are deep on both the shaft and external vibrator, although the ridges are much closer on the external vibrator. Though firm it is not stiff and cold to the touch. You also can’t bend the shaft, but that may not be important with the multi-speed function.
The control dial is at the bottom of the vibrator and has five function buttons. The functions on the left rotate the shaft and the functions on the right rotate the external vibrator. The center button is the one that allows the reverse rotating of the shaft. Three AA batteries allow the vibrator to function, but also add a bit of weight to the entire toy.
I first tried out the external vibrator to see how much power it packed. I was quickly impressed. Not only is the vibration a steady stream of intensity not found in many toys, but also it was very quiet. Then I tried the vibration and movement of the shaft and was eager to slip it on.
At 7 inches, the shaft is a good size and the ridges add girth. You’ve got to get it in about 2 inches to feel any movement or sensations. Compared to the external vibrator, the shaft does not pack as strong a punch, but it makes up for this shortcoming in other ways. For example, not only does the sound diminish once it’s all the way in, it’s fairly easy to use in just about any position. I spent most of Sunday afternoon with it on high reading a book as I enjoyed the reverse rotation while the external vibration helped me do a hands-free clit rub.
When I was ready for some more intense action, those deep ridges came in handy. They are great for thrusting and the external vibrator works wonders on other parts of the body just as good as it does on my clit. That added weight with the batteries turned this toy instantly into something I can use to do my kegel exercises. The only downfall is to turn the toy off you have to backtrack to all the speeds before it is completely turned off. There is no on or off switch and there is no way to keep the vibrations on a setting you enjoy the most, you just have to go through them all over again. But it’s worth the ride.
