To boil or not to boil, that is the question. When it comes to sex toys, proper cleaning is absolutely nessarary to keep you and others healthy and the toy lasting the test of time. But clean what and how? I have had my share of panic attacks after throwing a dildo into the pot of boiling water, watching closely, expecting it to melt into something far less than insertable. Glass and silicone can be boiled, given there isn’t anything in it needing a battery. With jelly rubber, it is not suggested to even use dish soap to clean. Some websites encourage using bleach to clean a toy off properly. This seems at least a little bit frightening to me (and my vagina) if the toy wasn’t properly rinsed.
Well bleach no more, my friends, Penthouse’s Brand Spankin’ Toy Cleaner is here to making disinfecting any sexual surface, from silicone to vinyl, just a couple squirts away. Having to give the cleaner a good go, I spent all night dirtying up all the different types of toys for a proper field test cleaning. I rarely follow the directions of cleaning the dongs and the plugs and the vibrators immediately after use. When I woke up the next morning, it looked like a sex toy shop exploded in my bedroom with various wangs on the floor, the bed, and the cat. I had a lot of cleaning on my hands.
The bottle suggests a couple sprays then a towel down, and voila! Unfortunately, it was not that simple. When cleaning glass, it was easy enough to get rid of the debris from the floor and it left the piece looking clean. But like me, glass is easy. The more porous the product, the more I had to really scrub with the towel resorting to the old-fashioned kitchen sink and dishwasher soap. When squirted upon a silicone dong and left to dry with no rinse and dry treatment, the solution dried on sticky.
Since I lacked an on-premise laboratory, I can not offer accurate statistics on just how clean the product got my beloved toys. No matter how you clean your toy, you are going to have to rinse and soap it up with or without the spray. Essentially, this cleaner is just a precautious extra step. This is ideal to ease the minds of people that are a bit on the hypochondriac side (me) or who have multiple sex partners (me as well). Maybe consider keeping the bottle on your nightstand. That will show your lover that you really care, and it's a bit more sexy than a big bottle of bleach.
