I was prepared to love Climax Gems; they have a lot of what I tend to look for in a toy. These vibrators, which come in fun colors, textures and varieties, like Jade Missile, Fuschia Phallus and Lavender Beaded, are designed to be waterproof and multi-speed.
Playing in water? Always a good thing. I also love that the variable speed vibration is located at the tip, while the shaft is flexible and nubbed, allowing for pleasure in many different ways.
Climax Gems are small and discreet—I was able to slip mine in my purse, and it took up less space than my cell phone—and it provides vibrations that go from subtle to intense with a pretty easy turn of the dial.
So, I was excited to try—until I discovered that the AAA batteries it requires were, alas, not included. What having is always worth working for, but when a toy has a limited battery span, we should at least be given the tools to start off with. That’s all I’m saying. And, the Climax Gems, while cute and concise and dainty—are battery eaters akin to a way that even those fine people at Apple has never seen.
The vibrators had a nice gel-like consistency that made it easy to glide (especially with usage of lube, which is always a good idea anyway), and the variety of speeds was a nice touch. Unfortunately, even with a fresh set of batteries, none of the speeds were very substantial in their intensity and I found this to be more of a “warmer-upper” toy than a good choice for the main event.
If you start with this toy, you can use it as a subtle tease to pregame the event with your partner (have him use it on you, perhaps) or with yourself before graduating to a more intense toy. Sometimes you are in the mood for a more subtle vibration—this would be a good pick for those times as well.
With a little under 6 inches of insertable length (but not a lot in the way of girth) it is a palatable size—not underwhelming, but not overwhelming either—and this distinction does the same to describe the toy in all other respects. It’s fine. It does the job, sorta. But it’s not anything special. Cute colors, though.
