First, it was Lexus Cash and then it was Lea Lexus. Next, it was Lexus and now it is Alexus Winston. Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. has made another porn star submit to its legal threats. Winston had to trade in her Alexus for an Alex.

Toyota issued Infinity Studios, the owner of Mystique Magazine, a formal demand requesting that its model change names. The Japanese auto company also requested that Infinity stop marketing any videos, photos or merchandise that resembles the “Alexus” moniker.

“Lexus has become singularly associated with Toyota and enjoys widespread public recognition as a symbol of the highest quality products," Toyota legal representative Eric T. Fingerhut stated in the letter to the company’s co-founder Kevin King.

King sent a response letter that expressed how he did not believe that “Alexus” and “Lexus” had any relation. He stated that “Alexus” does not “remotely impair Toyota's reputation or (the) value of the Lexus mark." In an interview with AVN, he felt the complaints were a joke.

"It actually ticked me off initially then made me laugh at how ridiculous it is," King told AVN. "Coincidentally, I had personally planned on buying a Lexus next year and now I will never even buy a Toyota product.”

While Toyota loses a car sell, Infinity loses a name that directly identifies with one of its major stars. Although King believes that Toyota would lose the legal battle over the name, he told AVN that going through the legal process would be a waste of time. Alexus has been changed to Alex on the Mystique Magazine website.

“Therefore, the big bad wolf wins,” King told AVN.
