A battle between Sweden’s Supreme Court and the Prison and Probation Services was finally finished with a final ruling: All prisoners, including those sentenced for sexual crimes, will be allowed to have porn in their cells.

The question of porn access in prisons arose after the Swedish Prison and Probation Services decided to ban a man convicted of violating a woman from having access to pornographic materials. The decision was overruled in 2006 by an appeals court on the principle of preserving freedom of information.

The Prison and Probation Services had appealed the decision, bringing it before the Supreme Court but the court upheld the decision. The Supreme Court ruling to allow access to porn in prisons is the final decision regarding the issue.
