Adult-oriented establishments in Las Vegas are as common as there are athletes at the Olympics. The athletes, who have the most unique backgrounds, do not always get the most exposure but they are still essential in reeling in the casual viewer. In Sin City, the unique athlete is the new Erotic Heritage Museum that opened its doors on August 2.
Unlike many other sex-oriented places, the Erotic Heritage Museum provides an educational atmosphere and displays its paintings and photos as a typical museum would. AdultFYI reported that one of the museum’s founders Harry Mohney said that they had art pieces worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. More importantly, the museum has “real art,” says Mohney. The 24,000-square-foot attraction places a great emphasis on featuring the American Sexual Revolution of the 20th century.
The Erotic Heritage Museum is owned by founder Ted McIlvenna’s non-profit Exodus Trust, which helped the museum to get a license to receive charitable donations of both money and art. The museum’s official website stated that the museum pursued academic research through the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality and the American College of Sexologists.
The Sin City Chamber Of Commerce reported in its newsletter that artists, critics and its members attended the opening. The Erotic Heritage Museum officially opened its doors to the public on Aug. 3.
For $15 or the student and senior-discounted price of $12, visitors will be able to view art displays form artists such as Todji Kurtzman, Jacqueline Cooper and the recently married (to himself) Keith Murray. Although the Erotic Heritage Museum provides an educational experience, due to the displays’ graphic nature, all visitors must be at least 18 years of age.
