The statement that most men would not mind a lady hearing: Having sex actually benefits women’s health more than it does for men. Turns out the following statement is true, based on a report by Forbes.com.
Researchers have uncovered the benefits of having sex and Forbes.com, the financial magazine’s website, has brought to light all of their findings. Although practitioners of abstinence may gain many of the moral perks, they lose out on reducing the frequency of getting the cold or flu. Researchers at Wilkes University in Pennsylvania showed a 30 percent increase of immunoglobulin, more commonly known as antibodies, in the blood among people who had sex 1-2 times a week.
The old saying, “You lose it, if you don’t use it,” applies here. Dr. George Winch Jr., an obstetrician/gynecologist in Elko, Nev., attested that postmenopausal women who abstain from sex run the risks of vaginal atrophy. A women’s failure to use her vagina can lead to dysparenia, pain associated with sexual intercourse.
Forbes’ list of sex benefits also include gaining a heighten sense of smell. Sexual activity contributes to the release of the hormone prolactin, which causes stem cells in the brain to develop new neurons in the brain’s olfactory area also known as its smell center.
Having sex 3-4 times a week can reduce a man’s risk of a heart attack or stroke by 50 percent, researchers say in a follow-up to the 2001 Queens University study. Forbes noted that having vigorous sex burns nearly 200 calories, which they paralleled to running for 15 minutes on a treadmill.
Forbes also noted that besides aiding in weight loss by toning the pelvis, buttocks, arms and thighs, sex helps reduce depression in women. There is just one catch: the sexual interaction has to include intercourse with a male without the use of a condom. The hormone prostaglandin, which is found in sperm, was discovered to have the ability to simmer a female’s hormones, based on a 2002 study by American psychologist Gordon Gallup. That same sperm was also proven to slow down tooth decay if taken orally.
No more headaches, arthritis or any PMS-related pains for women. Instead of popping pills, Forbes said having orgasms can make the pain go away. Women just have to find that special person or toy that will create those pain-killing sparks.
