The Florida Family Association continues their letter-writing quest against porn-related television shows. Some may have issues with the E! Channel reality series The Girls Next Door, but none comes close to the FFA. The censor group, whose mission is to “improve and protect our moral environment,” is continuing its elaborate campaign against the Playboy series.
David Caton, founder of the FFA, told OneNewsNow, a religious website, that his organization has caused 325 companies to pull their advertising from the show. The FFA apparently has issues with an adult-entertainment company having a show on cable television. Caton said that the show “is nothing more than an infomercial designed to promote Playboy Enterprises' various products: their magazines, Internet service, and videos," according to a Monday report by OneNewsNow.
Caton has already had much success in his campaign against Playboy Enterprises, Inc. but he is still looking to wipe out all of the advertisers. Apart from claiming responsibility for companies such as IHOP, Coca-Cola, Best Buy and Geico for disallowing E! to advertise the Girls Next Doors, Caton is set on getting Arby’s to join the list of fleeing advertisers. The FFA placed an email link on their website to Arby’s offices in an effort to encourage the fast-food company to end their three-year-old commitment with the cable TV show.
The Girls Next Door is reality show about the daily routine of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner and his girlfriends, who all live at the Playboy mansion. Critics say that the show exploits the women but the show has still been popular. In the first season, the E! Channel’s series averaged 800,000 viewers per episode, according to the network.
The bunnies will make their return Oct. 5 for the start of the show’s fifth season.
