No actions will be taken against public TV channel Nederland 3 to prevent public broadcasters BNN and VPRO for their plan to air 13 candid films this summer. Though Christian leaders are objecting, Dutch social and cultural minister Ronald Plasterk sees no cause for stopping the broadcasts and that “the government also has no views on any program, moral or otherwise.”
Christian parties ChristenUnie and SGP have both expressed concerns over the impending broadcast. ChristenUnie’s party leader Andre Rouvoet sent a “moral appeal” to BNN and VPRO to stop the broadcasting; SGP asked for a ban. Both requests were met with failure.
The series will come out under the label Cinema Erotic. This is a follow-up to last February’s public showing of Deep Throat.
"These films are characterized by connoisseurs as artistic," Plasterk said in a letter to parliament.
