CBS Corp. and affiliated TV stations have requested that the FCC annul a $3.3 million fine for alleged violations of federal broadcast standards of indecent content for an episode aired in Without a Trace in 2004, which allude to a teenage orgy and clips of youths in provocative poses but were clothed, reported Media Week Monday.
CBS is arguing that none of the complaints emailed to the FCC were from viewers but instead from members of the conservative groups Parents for Television Council and the American Family Association and that the show was a rerun and had drawn no criticism when it was first aired.
Each of CBS’s 103 stations had been fined $32,500 for “graphically showing teenage boys and girls participating in a sexual orgy.” Parents Television Council president said the 11,679 complaints launched by the group’s sight to the FCC were valid. CBSRequestsFCCtoRevokeFine
