An American film producer working in Panama has been found not guilty of charges that have kept him under house arrest and unemployable for more than two years. Fred Salaff was arrested two and a half years ago on charges of prostitution, failure to file paperwork and neglecting to ensure minors could not view his works in progress.

The charges against Salaff were based on the suspicion that he was pressuring prostitutes into participating in his films and was also neglecting to file all the necessary paperwork to make the films themselves legal. In the process of filming, minors had reportedly scaled a neighboring tree in order to view the activities involved in filming.

Though the process has taken an excess of two years, Salaff has been found not guilty of all charges and was released from house arrest.

Upon Salaff’s arrest, police confiscated all equipment and paperwork that could be linked to his business in the adult film industry. Now, Salaff awaits the return of his belongings but with little hope to find them intact. He worries that the humidity in storage will have ruined the majority of his electronic equipment.

Despite his confiscated equipment having little chance of survival, Salaff is grateful to be free of the charges and was quoted as saying, “It has been two-and-a-half years of a nightmare, gross travesty of justice, loss of reason, separation from my family and all the rest, but it’s finally over.”
